Pssst... can you keep a secret?

This one.

Okay... so this is the dress I am discussing with the dressmaker at the moment. It's a photoshop mash up of a few different designs I liked.

It has a corset fitting with lace up back, raw edged ruffled underskirt in colours ranging from white to a pale grey and an over-skirt  in white with draping and white & grey (handmade by me) flower detailing.

It will be worn with a pale grey Icarus shawl and probably more flowers in my hair. I'm currently considering options that include a jasmine circlet or a flower and feather fascinator or something else.  And hopefully I'll look a damn sight happier and less polished than her. More arty-woodnymph-creative than posh slicked back hair, I think.

So yeah. That's the current thought. And other than a comment about the large number of ruffles, she seems up for it so far. Go team!

(I love raw edged ruffles, i think they hit that sweet spot of fun/party/textural without getting too frou frou for my tastes..)

Anyway, that;'s the current thought, got no idea whether it will happen, but let's see...

  1. OOooohhhh - I nodded when the pic turned up on my screen. I like this very much!

I get the mash-up completely, and the raw edges say "not stuck up: my dress is here for better or worse along with the rest of me and if some bugger steps on it or some wine gets on it, then it's part of the party, not the Ruin of Bridezilla's Day".

(Lucky there're a lot of ruffles, they have a lot to say... ;-)

I was looking for some feathers in there somewhere, somehow. You definitely need a fascinator, not a circlet, imo.

And a corset is the thing for you, I think. The combo of structure and softness suits well: better than the stiff structural pics from earlier.

I endorse your current thought. I would only add feathers. And gloves in the colourway previously directed...

PS: Sorry for all the comments at once, I've looked at your blog previously and had no time to comment, then got sidetracked for weeks. Now I play catchup at last and get to feel all frizzly inside from the vicarious playing with the pretties! *VBG*

  2. Ahhhh my friend, you make me smile. :)

i'm glad you like it too, and not thinking I am with the crazy ;)

I liked the feather and flower fascinator idea. And with short-ish hair would look very sweet and fun I think.

(Oh and hopefully the ruffles will help me not freeze in the middle of winter down south too!)

And the gloves would work. I might even have some from my shawl left over, and pair it either with a darker grey or a blue.
