I am such a knit geek. But I can say I loved casting on my shawl for the wedding more than anything.
Perhaps, if you might indulge me a moment of whimsy...
Perhaps it is because it is something personal and small and within my own control.. and with my own perseverance and patience and skill it will be something beautiful and fine, that I made, with my own two hands and no one else, that I can wear on the day I marry my man.
And that gives me the most delicious and joyous satisfaction, even from the very moment I cast on that pale grey string of fluff.

Good for you! That feeling of starting a project for something really special is a beautiful thing. And when you cast off and finish blocking and making it up (does it need any making-up?), that feeling will be even better.
ReplyDeleteAnd because Icarus is bus-knittable, it will be in plenty of time for the wedding, which is also very fine. And you'll get to spend many happy knitting hours in contemplation of what you're knitting it for, while going to and from work.
All good.
Happy knitting! xxx
